Clearly Speaking

What is Voice Branding?

As I have evolved as a speech and voice coach over the years, it has become clearer to me that the way we sound creates perceptions and influences the audiences we encounter. You have an identity, too, based on the way you sound and the way you look. It’s a personal brand that you have available to use as a tool to market yourself, to persuade and influence and to create greater impact.  Your personal brand differentiates you from everyone else. The way you speak indicates where you grew up and may quickly identify your level of education, personal tastes, and social background. For example, you need only to say one or two words before someone can say, “Oh, that sounds like (your name).” Maybe your friend or colleague even says, “You sound tired today.” If you were to hear a recording of a famous person (an actor, news broad castor, or a politician, etc.) do you think that you could identify him or her after only a short phrase even if you didn’t have a visual cue of the person? That is speech and voice branding.

Leading in a very intentional way requires communication skills that match. Your speech, language and voice are professional tools to showcase your values and help you achieve success! Your communication must always convey your vision, your purpose and your values in order to build credibility, be trustworthy and likable, sound confident and ultimately achieve the professional goals you have set for yourself.  Would you like to learn more about how to achieve a sound that portrays the professional that you are?
