Wondering if a Coach is Right for YOU?

Recently, I came to a cross roads in my career.  I felt unsure and alone with a big decision I was trying to make.  After pondering over my situation for several weeks, I decided to hire a career coach to help me figure out what to do next.  I’ll be the first to admit that I was relieved that someone else was going to chime in with some objective advice about my situation. It was freeing to hear options that I hadn’t even considered because I was limiting myself to believe that I only had two options.  Through the hard work of examining my goals and what’s important to me and why, I was able to come up with a solution that feels good.  I am motivated now to make my new reality work just because my coach helped me examine my priorities.

The most difficult decision for me (after deciding to plunk down the money) occurred at the beginning of the process with how do I find the right coach for me? There are so many types of coaches and I wasn’t sure who could help me?  After deciding that my real peril was with decisions about my career, I chose a career coach.  So, I started looking for a coach who could help me with that.  I’m so glad that I did, too.  Not only did she help me with my options but she helped me get clear about my own short comings and what I’ll need to change to make things work.  I’m now working with a Time Management Coach, too!

Are you struggling with something in your life?  I’d like to encourage you, too, to ask for a little help in whatever it is that you struggle with.  It may not an easy decision to hire someone to help.  After all it’s going to take a piece of your hard-earned money and your limited time.  But what I know from my experience is that a coach is worth it’s money in gold.  It gives you the self-confidence and courage to take steps in that uncomfortable place in your life.  So, I highly recommend a coach to help you develop and  grow as a leader.

A while back, I created a report on “How to Choose a Coach.”  It provides valuable information about all the aspects to consider as you seek to find the right person for you (no matter what type of coach you are looking to hire).  In full transparency, it is slanted towards finding a communication skills coach but the information and questions to ask are easily adaptable towards any need.  I hope that you will download it and use it for your own purposes.
